Two National Specialties; 2 McVan Scotties

2017-06-16

It doesn't happen often but it did for us. Gch. McVan's Be Bop Baby won the Scottish Terrier Club of America's Rotating Specialty. When she retired she was bred to LaRae Shafer's dog Chyscott's Behind the Mask twice. The results have been spectacular, namely two national specialty winners and multiple a multiple specialty winner.
In April, 2017, Gch. McVan's. Shown in picture is BIS BISS Ch. McVan's Be Bop Boy at Chyscott (Larae Shafer, Whitney Shafer, Kristen Simmons) who won in April, 2017 and on the right is BIS BISS McVan's Big Bopper at Beameups (Vandra Huber, Rebecca and Dorene Cross) who won in 2016. A tradition of quality. Oh yes, grandmother, mother and both boys are multiple specialty AND all breed Best in Show winners.

We thank our handler Rebecca Cross for her brilliant grooming and handling.

Knopa Retires by Going Best in Show at Crufts

2015-03-08

We are proud to announce that Am. Can. Russian BIS champion McVan's To Russia With Love (aka Knopa) went Best in Show at Crufts in Birmingham, England. Shown by her friend and handler Rebecca Cross, Knopa beat out more than 22,000 dogs including approximately 100 Scottish Terriers from around the world. The breed judge was Geoff Corish, Terrier Group First was under Mr. Martin Phillips and Best in Show at Crufts was under the distinguished Mr. Ronnie Irving.

Winning Crufts with Knopa is the culmination of three determined women (breeder Vandra Huber of McVan Scotties,Seattle, WA, handler and breeder Rebecca Cross of Beameups,Gettysburg PA, and owner Marina Khenkina, Moscow of pursuing a dream which included mixing up blood lines of Scottish Terriers, sharing dogs with one another purely because we love the breed.

Knopa who was raised by McVanScotties, was given as gift to Marina Khenkina of Russia who wanted something nice to show and breed. In Russia, Knopa went BIS at the important EuroAsia Kennel Club Show. While Knopa was in the limelight, her sister BIS Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Be Bop Baby (Betsy) was shown in the U.S. and achieved America's top honors. She went Best of Breed at Crufts 4 years ago also with Rebecca showing her.

"When Betsy retired, says Vandra, "we asked Marina if we could borrow Knopa back to show in the USA. Marina said sure, why not." Knopa in only a few months of showing rose to the No. 1 rank in the U.S. in 2013 and again in 2014. She has been recognized by the fancy by garnering back to back Best of Breeds at the Scottish Terrier Club of America's National Specialty at Montgomery County. Along the way she earned 8 all breed Best in Shows.

We are grateful and proud of Knopa and know she is resting comfortablity on Marina's bed. And yes, she can get up on the couch. She's earned it.

You can read more about it at Scottish Terrier Goes Best in show at Crufts. https://www.google.co.kr/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=crufts%20best%20in%20show%202015

Puppies, puppies every where. The first week of June saw the birth of two litters of puppies. Anna Nicole and Jimmy had a litter of three scotties. The litter included one exceptional wheaten girl, a smaller black boy and a fiesty but small wheaten boy.

A few days later, her daughter McVan's Fire Starter "Carrie" had a litter for four puppies. There were three beautiful black girls and one wheaten boy, all puppies were of good size with nice coats.

It's now 8 weeks later and the puppies are doing well. They have had their shots, they are eating sold food. Anna is teaching them to be tough scotties and to stand up own their feet. They enjoy their twice daily romps through the hall ways and love a rubber toy with a bell in it.
